The Artist

Juno Helena Sacramento, is a first generation Latina from the outskirts of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Currently living in Boston and now finishing they’re final year of her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art & Design. It was there that she was introduced to clay and her love for the medium grew. She connected with the making process, and working with different clay bodies as well as, firing her own kilns. She is an active member in the Ceramics Department playing an active role in helping the department with raising funds for trips and nonprofit organizations/groups, and also organizing departmental meetings. With being away from her comunidad back at home, she made it her mission to build herself one within her institution.

Her art stems from her need to understand the complexities of her culture and trauma. To have this conversation within herself and her familia, about the history of ourselves. Los sueños que nos han mantendio vivos. The unspoken darkness that we have kept hidden from one another and confronting and breaking these walls that have been put up. Her artwork is the start of her healing journey; acknowledging the weight she has been given and learning to break it down & grow.
